This installation was based on a 2-week residency that I did in Castro Marim (Portugal) in April 2023, curated by NyMusikk. The material that I collected during this residency from the base for this work, which was made for the group exhibition Particular Universal at Nitja senter for samtidskunst (24.08 – 06.10.2024).

With walking as my main method of exploring Castro Marim and its surroundings, ‘directions’ and ‘fragmentation’ have been two important areas of focus, both during the residency period and in the work with the installation afterwards. Which directions, physically and/or conceptually, are present in this environment, in its static objects, movements and the passing of time? How do its inhabitants relate to them? And what can these directions tell us about this specific place?
