Vestlandsutstilling 2019 // 6 new sound works + 2 performances
2019 – KUBE, Haugesund Billedgalleri, Kunsthuset Kabuso, Kunsthall Stavanger, Sogn og Fjordane Kunstmuseum, Kunstgarasjen

Torn Tracks being listened to during the opening of Vestlandsutstillingen at Kunsthuset Kabuso in Øystese (May 2019).

For Vestlandsutstillingen 2019, I was invited to create 6 new site-specific sound works within the Torn Tracks project, one work for each of the places the exhibition would be shown at. These places included: Ålesund, Haugesund, Øystese, Stavanger, Førde and Bergen.

Based on site visits to each of these 6 places, during which I walked extensively through the place and its surroundings, I collected the sound recordings, photos and written and drawn material that I used to create the eventual works with. The sound works were presented on the Torn Tracks website. Every time the exhibition opened in a new place, another work was available for listening there, and in the exhibition visitors could explore these works on available tablets and headphones.

In addition, I also made 2 performances: the first one being done at the opening of Vestlandsutstillingen at KUBE in Ålesund and the second at Kunstgarasjen in Bergen. For these performances, I created new versions of the sound works made for these places and related them to the place I performed in, its surroundings and this new layer of time that was added to the work by performing it live at the opening.
